The programme of the Russia–ASEAN Business Forum, scheduled to take place at Kazan’s Bashir Rameev IT Park on 17 June on the sidelines of the Russia–ASEAN Summit, can now be viewed online. The main theme of the Forum, which provides an opportunity to discuss economic, investment, and cultural cooperation between Russia and Southeast Asia, is ‘Russia–ASEAN: A Partnership Without Borders’.

Russia has been working to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN, which is home to some of the world’s fastest developing economies and Russia’s most important partners in the Asia-Pacific region. This cooperation is taking place in areas as wide-ranging as trade and investment, digital transformation, energy, and cultural exchanges. The Russia–ASEAN Business Forum in Kazan will create additional opportunities for government officials to engage in dialogue directly with members of the business and expert communities, identify new areas of growth, and establish practical mechanisms for developing mutually beneficial cooperation,” Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Russia–ASEAN Summit Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov said.

The Business Forum will be attended by Secretary-General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn, Minister of Commerce of Cambodia Cham Nimul, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ilyichev, Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines Allan B. Gepty, President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Oudet Souvannavong, CEO of LinkAja Yogi Rizkian Bahar, Chairman of EXIM Bank Malaysia Dato’ Charon Wardini Mokhzani, and Minister in Charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Daniyar Imanaliev, among others.

The Business Forum will focus on the traditional spiritual and moral values of Russia and ASEAN and how the state interacts with religion, the potential for cooperation in information technology and AI, international trade, food security, and transport and logistics between Russia and ASEAN, and ASEAN’s relationship with the EAEU in energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

Relations between our country and ASEAN mark 35 years this year. The Association unites 11 Southeast Asian states with a combined population of over 680 million people. According to the estimates of different international organizations, ASEAN boasts a combined GDP of more than USD 4 trillion, making it one of the world’s largest economies. Cooperation with ASEAN remains a key focus of Russia’s engagement with the fast-growing markets of Asia.

The Business Forum will wrap up with agreement signing ceremonies.
