Combining Global Trends and Local Flavour

The BRICS+ Fashion Summit business program features more than 200 speakers from all over the world. They are fashion industry professionals who set the trends for its development in their relevant regions. We asked some of them to size up the Summit’s impact on BRICS+ emerging markets, to talk about fashion development trends in their countries and the contribution made by the textile and garment industry to their national economies.

BRICS+ Fashion Summit is an important platform for developing countries since it facilitates exchange of ideas and innovative practices between designers, business people and scholars representing different cultures. The Forum not only advances local and regional talents but also promotes commercial cooperation and international trade. By raising the subjects of sustainability and inclusivity, the Summit helps developing countries to present themselves on the world fashion market by highlighting their strong points and cultural uniqueness.

Investment interest

By organizing Asuncion Fashion Week in 2003, we set the task of promoting local designers on the domestic and international markets. There were 40 events in which hundreds of companies participated. Paraguay has recently received an investment rating, this being an important step for the country’s economic growth. We are also experiencing a substantial growth in direct foreign investment. Thanks to the stability and predictability of its macroeconomy, Paraguay is in first place in South America’s business environment. Our brands are advancing actively abroad, primarily in Argentina, Uruguay and Europe. I believe that fashion is the future, combining global trends and local flavour. Paraguay’s leading brands Negro Vazquez, Javier Saiach, Victoria Maluff and OFELIA | OTELLO work in this style. The trendy young brands worth noting are ILSE JARA, Andres Baez, Rue Mariscal, CABURE and ANCESTRAL.
