A meeting took place in Moscow between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Hamdy Shaaban Abdelhalim Mohammed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation. The parties exchanged views on the advancement of Russia–Egypt cooperation, Egypt’s engagement in major international events held in Russia, and preparations for the Third Russia–Africa Summit.

“Russia and Egypt share long-standing and resilient relations founded on respect for sovereignty, reciprocity of interests, and strategic partnership. In today’s world, where international dialogue is gaining particular importance, major international events serve as key platforms for open and meaningful discussion of global issues. We greatly value the active involvement of our Egyptian partners in forums and initiatives held by the Roscongress Foundation and anticipate further development of cooperation in business, humanitarian, and public relations,” said Anton Kobyakov.

The meeting highlighted the consistent development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of large-scale joint projects, including the construction of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, the development of the Russian Industrial Zone in Egypt, as well as cooperation in energy, food security, tourism, and human resource development.

The parties discussed the participation of the Egyptian delegation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held on 3–6 June 2026 in St. Petersburg. It was noted that the delegation is currently in the process of formation. Egypt has already gained successful experience of participating in SPIEF as a Guest Country in 2022, which provided a significant impetus to the expansion of bilateral business and humanitarian cooperation.

Against the backdrop of the current volatile geopolitical environment, the Forum continues to serve as an important and highly relevant platform for strengthening business ties and advancing joint initiatives. The parties also focused on prospects for expanding the participation of Egyptian business representatives in Roscongress Foundation events, as well as enhancing direct engagement between the business communities of both countries.

“Relations between Egypt and Russia are truly strategic in nature and span a wide range of fields, including energy and industry, as well as tourism, education, and food security. Russia remains a key partner for Egypt, and we are keen to further deepen cooperation across all dimensions,” highlighted Hamdy Shaaban Abdelhalim Mohammed.

Special emphasis was given to the preparations for the Third Russia–Africa Summit and the Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, both of which will be held in Moscow in October 2026. The Russian side expressed its gratitude to Egypt for the high-level organization of the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, held in Cairo in December 2025, as well as for the effective coordination with the Roscongress Foundation team in preparing and delivering the event.

The parties also discussed the participation of Egyptian representatives in a range of international events, including the “Let’s Travel!” International Tourism Forum, the Eastern Economic Forum, the United Cultures Forum, and Russian Energy Week. Particular emphasis was placed on Egypt’s strong interest in the United Cultures Forum. The Minister of Culture of Egypt, who previously participated in Roscongress Foundation events in Kazan, has expressed readiness to attend the upcoming Forum in St. Petersburg.

It was highlighted that Egypt remains one of Russia’s key partners in Africa and the Arab world, and that the accumulated experience of cooperation forms a solid basis for further expanding engagement across government institutions, business, cultural, scientific, and civil society.
