Uzbekistan Officially Joins the New Development Bank

27.06.2026

The Republic of Uzbekistan has become a new member of the New Development Bank (NDB) — and the first Central Asian country to join it. With Uzbekistan’s accession, the bank’s membership has grown to ten countries.

On June 5, 2026, Uzbekistan deposited its instrument of accession in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement on the New Development Bank.

NDB President Dilma Rousseff warmly congratulated Uzbekistan on its membership:

«The New Development Bank cordially welcomes Uzbekistan to the growing family of NDB member countries. Uzbekistan is demonstrating truly outstanding economic results. The country brings to the bank a vibrant and dynamic economy, underpinned by a firm commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation».

Rousseff emphasized that the bank intends to support Uzbekistan’s sustainable development agenda, including projects in such areas as clean energy, water resource management, and transport.

The NDB was established by the BRICS countries to mobilize resources for infrastructure projects and sustainable development in developing nations. Expanding its membership is in line with the NDB’s strategy of becoming a leading provider of infrastructure and sustainable development solutions for emerging economies.
