Russia and Japan meet in Moscow to discuss common ground
Russo-Japanese Forum entitled “Common Ground: business, investment, culture” will be held in Moscow World Trade Center on September 8-10, 2014. This is the second time the event will be held: in February 2013 two countries met each other in Tokyo. The initiators and organizers are two influential print publications, Rossiyskaya Gazeta (Russia) and Mainichi Shimbun (Japan).
The main objective of the Forum is to promote direct dialogue between representatives of government, business, and civil society in Russia and Japan in order to boost economic cooperation, exchange of knowledge, and cultural achievements. Particular attention will be paid to the development of the Far East in the context of Russian-Japanese relations.
Representatives of both state authorities are taking part in the event. From Russia there will be Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin and Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev. Special guests from the Japanese side will be former Prime Minister Yoshirе Mori, the governor of Tottori Prefecture Shinji Hirai and the President of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations Hiroshi Okuda. Moreover, representatives of major Japanese companies in the fields of energy, medicine, agriculture, urban development are also participating in the event.
