5th International Economic Summit Concludes in Kazan
June 7 marked the end of Kazansummit, the main business forum of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Islamic world, in the capital of Tatarstan. As part of the 3-day event, experts from different countries discussed the most important and relevant issues of international cooperation.
Guests of the summit included Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy of the UAE; Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of European Union Affairs of Turkey; Irman Guzman, Chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia; Sultan Al-Khater, Undersecretary at Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Qatar; Ambassador Ahmed Al-Haddad, Director of Economic Affairs of the OIC; Ilyas Umahanov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and Konstantin Shuvalov, Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
During the event, the experts had the opportunity to discuss the most pressing issues of cooperation among the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and how to attract Islamic financial instruments. Furthermore, during the meeting of parliamentarians from Russia and the OIC, the participants discussed issues of food security, ways to strengthen the role of the federal centers and parliamentarians, the codification of international law, the development of interfaith relations, and international cooperation.
One of the high points of the summit was the speech of Carlos Bronzatto, Executive Director of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), who shared his thoughts on promoting the country and the region, providing information support for investment potential and placing emphasis on specific projects.
